Our Track Record in the maritime market spans nearly half a Century

Mrs. Marjan Lacet is an independent consultant for export promotion in the maritime sector. She operates from the family business Maritime Consult, which has already gained international fame through the work of founder Mr. Henk Lacet.

Mr. Henk Lacet has 50 years of experience in the technical, commercial and export fields. For his work, he has been honoured by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands and knighted with the official title: 'Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau' - Knight of the Order of Oranje Nassau.

Today Mr. Lacet still occasionally works as an independent maritime advisor and he is an honorary member of Holland Marine Equipment Association (HME), renamed Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT). Over time, he has done a significant amount of consultancy work for Reed Exhibitions in Singapore, the organiser of APM (Asia Pacific Maritime) in Singapore and IME (Indonesia Maritime Expo) in Jakarta. Henk Lacet has been honoured for his work by several royal visits at trade exhibitions and trade missions and received many tokens of appreciation.

Early years

Maritime market consultant

Starting as a radio officer on the merchant navy vessels, he transferred to the aeronautical service, serving on weather ships and at Dutch airports. Learning the business at an international technical trading company, after which he managed a company selling nautical equipment, he decided to start his own company NAUTISERVO. He supplied and installed equipment for Damen Shipyard, Deltawerf, the Dutch navy, passenger vessels in Egypt, pushing vessels on the river Rhine, fishing and transport vessels in Western Europe.

In Asia, he supplied and installed maritime equipment for the Hong Kong police, the governments of Malaysia and Indonesia, and companies in Australia and Singapore. In 1986, he co-founded HME with eight member companies. This was the beginning of a combined export promotion group in the maritime industry from the Netherlands to Asia, supported by the Dutch government. Henk Lacet developed the concept of the Holland Pavilions at all well-known international maritime trade shows and created new exhibitions in collaboration with the local organisers: the INMEX series in India, Malaysia, China and Vietnam.

His daughter Marjan Lacet built her career initially in the hotel industry. Then following her father's footsteps, she moved seamlessly to become Holland Marine Equipment's Export Manager in Asia. She worked several years stationed in Singapore as General Manager of the Singapore branch of HME/NMT, the close-knit network of shipyards, ship owners, suppliers and service providers. Before Marjan Lacet recently continued as an independent consultant, she was the well-known Trade Promotion Manager of NMT.

Both have built up a huge network in Asia. Therefore, Maritime Consult is the perfect point of contact and helping hand for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that would like an introduction to trade relations and business partners, to gain a better foothold in Asia and perhaps eventually start a local office in this region.
